Abstract In addition to the hydromorphological pressure on ecological conditions of free‐flowing river courses, increasing water temperature is affecting bodies, particularly by changing freshwater community compositions. The low discharge numerous European rivers in dry and hot hydrological year 2022 proves this relevance. Therefore, assessment tools such as habitat modeling should take these factors into account when assessing quantity quality habitats. paper, tool “Transient River Habitat Modeling for Macrozoobenthos” (TRiMM) improved incorporating a fuzzy logic approach adding set parameters determining suitability macrozoobenthos. Habitat‐relevant parameters, including (depth, velocity, mineral organic substrate) factor (temperature), are combined model so that it can more broadly characterize physical their interactions with biological indicators. employed mentioned simulate macrozoobenthos small central Saxony, Germany. Due its deteriorated condition, was selected representative thousands kilometers across region, which have been restored. simulated status quo from spring summer three species ( Ancylus fluviatilis , Ephemera danica Gammarus fossarum ). results showed natural flow resulted dynamic both spatially temporally, differs each species. Remarkably, five‐parameter temperature, mineral, generally performed better compared similar without temperature.
